STARBASE Kansas City

Launching rockets, programming robots, and designing on CAD are just a few of the activities students will experience during STARBASE summer academies. Students will be building skills in observation, investigation, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as gaining confidence while working in a team setting.

Summer academies are available to students who have completed 4th, 5th or 6th grade. NO EXCEPTIONS! Five-day academies are offered in Wichita, Topeka, Salina, Kansas City, and Manhattan.  There is no fee for our academies, but we do depend upon donations to fund our summer programs.  Please consider donating to support your student's adventure.

PLEASE READ THE NOTE BELOW BEFORE REGISTERING

Since the demand for summer academies has been so strong, students will be limited to one academy per summer. Please register early as our summer academies fill up quickly.  All academies are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m

Teachers who attend five-day academies as Flight Leaders are eligible for college graduate credits through Friends University and Baker University.  You are not required to have a child in the academy to enroll in the gradutate program.  . Please contact Karen@kansasSTARBASE.org for more information.

NOTE:  All Kansas City 2017 summer academies will be held at the Olathe Armory, 1601 W. Old Hwy 56, Olathe, KS.

STARBASE Profiles

State Senator Elaine Bowers

Senator Elaine Bowers on Kansas STARBASEIt has been a great privilege of mine to be involved with DoD STARBASE for the past six years. Being a member of the Kansas STARBASE Foundation Board has given me the opportunity to help spread the word on how important it is to have these STEM programs available to our local youth. The U.S. Department of Defense and Kansas National Guard has formed a great relationship with STARBASE, and with their help, they are able to raise students' interest in skills related to science, technology, engineering, and math.
